Objective

By the end of this lesson, the toddler will be able to spell and recognize basic words related to herbalism.

Materials and Prep

  • Herbalism-themed flashcards (create your own or use online resources)
  • Writing utensils (crayons, markers, or pencils)
  • Blank paper or a whiteboard
  • Optional: Herbal plants or pictures of herbs for visual reference

Activities

  1. Introduce the concept of herbalism to the toddler by showing them pictures or actual herbal plants. Discuss what herbs are used for and their importance.

  2. Use the herbalism-themed flashcards to teach the toddler how to spell and recognize basic words related to herbalism. Start with simple words like "herb", "leaf", "tea", and "plant". Show each flashcard and ask the toddler to repeat the word and spell it out loud.

  3. Have the toddler practice writing the words they learned on a blank paper or whiteboard. Encourage them to trace the letters first and then try writing them on their own.

  4. Play a spelling memory game with the flashcards. Lay the cards facedown and take turns flipping two cards at a time. If the toddler can spell the word correctly, they get to keep the pair. Continue until all the cards have been matched.
