Using the internet, find a short story or article about Minecraft that is suitable for a first-grade reading level. Read the story aloud together, taking turns with the student. Encourage the student to follow along with their finger as you read.
After reading the story, ask the student some comprehension questions to check their understanding. For example, "What was the main character's name?" or "What was the problem in the story?" Discuss the answers together.
Give the student some paper and pencils. Ask them to draw a picture of their favorite part of the story. Encourage them to include details from the text.
Have the student imagine that they are a character in the Minecraft world. Ask them to write a short adventure story, using their imagination and the elements they enjoy in the game. Help them with spelling and sentence structure as needed.
