Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will have a better understanding of the physical skills required in baseball and will be able to demonstrate proper techniques for throwing, catching, and batting.
Materials and Prep
- Baseball
- Glove
- Baseball bat
- Open space or backyard
Prior knowledge of the basic rules and positions in baseball is helpful but not required.
Activities

Warm-up: Begin with a light jog or jumping jacks to get the heart rate up and muscles warmed up.

Throwing Practice: Stand a few feet apart and practice throwing the baseball back and forth. Focus on proper throwing technique, including stepping with the opposite foot, using a full arm motion, and following through with the throw.

Catching Practice: Take turns throwing the baseball to each other and practice catching it. Pay attention to hand-eye coordination, keeping the glove in front of the body, and using two hands to secure the ball.

Batting Practice: Set up a makeshift batting tee or have someone pitch to the student. Practice swinging the bat, focusing on proper grip, stance, and following through with the swing.

Mini Game: Divide into teams or play one-on-one and have a friendly baseball game. Apply the skills learned in throwing, catching, and batting during the game.
