By the end of this lesson, you will be able to understand the basic concepts of hot air balloons and how they work.
Materials and Prep
- Construction paper
- Scissors
- Crayons or markers
- Tape
- String
- A small plastic bag
- A hairdryer
Before starting the lesson, make sure you have a basic understanding of the concept of hot air balloons and how they are able to fly.
Activities
- Draw and decorate a hot air balloon on a piece of construction paper.
- Cut out the hot air balloon shape.
- Tape a string to the top of the hot air balloon.
- Blow up the plastic bag with air and tie it off.
- Hold the hairdryer underneath the plastic bag and turn it on to create hot air.
- Observe what happens to the hot air balloon when the hairdryer blows hot air into it.
