Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to identify and describe different types of villains in stories.

Materials and Prep

  • Paper and pencils
  • A selection of age-appropriate storybooks with villains

Activities

  1. Introduction to Villains: Start by discussing the concept of villains with the student. Ask them if they know what a villain is and encourage them to share any examples they might have encountered in stories or movies.
  2. Read Aloud: Choose one of the storybooks with a villain and read it aloud to the student. Pause at key points to discuss the actions and characteristics of the villain.
  3. Character Drawing: After reading the story, ask the student to draw a picture of the villain. Encourage them to include details that make the villain look mean or scary.
  4. Describe the Villain: Have the student describe the villain they drew. Ask them questions about the villain's appearance, actions, and role in the story.
  5. Create a Villain: In this activity, the student will have the opportunity to create their own villain. Provide them with paper and pencils and encourage them to think about what their villain will look like and what kind of actions they will take in a story.
  6. Share and Discuss: Once the student has finished creating their villain, have them share it with you. Ask them to describe their villain and explain why they made certain choices.
