Objective

By the end of this lesson, the toddler will be able to identify different types of flowers and understand basic concepts related to flowers.

Materials and Prep

  • Picture books about flowers
  • Real or artificial flowers
  • Construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
  • Markers or crayons

No additional preparation required.

Activities

  1. Read a flower-themed picture book together, discussing the different types of flowers and their characteristics.
  2. Go on a flower hunt in the backyard or a nearby park. Encourage the toddler to observe and point out different flowers they see.
  3. Create a flower collage using construction paper, scissors, and glue. Cut out flower shapes from different colored paper and let the toddler arrange and glue them onto a larger sheet of paper.
  4. Draw and color their favorite flower using markers or crayons. Encourage the toddler to describe their drawing and explain why they like that particular flower.
