Objective

By the end of this lesson, the toddler will be able to recognize and identify different types of trains, understand basic train-related vocabulary, and engage in reading activities related to trains.

Materials and Prep

  • Markers or crayons
  • Train-themed picture books

Activities

  1. Train Vocabulary Drawing: Ask the toddler to draw different types of trains, such as steam trains, electric trains, or freight trains. Encourage them to use their imagination and be creative with colors and shapes.
  2. Train Book Reading: Read train-themed picture books to the toddler. Pause occasionally to ask questions about the story or the illustrations. Encourage the toddler to point out different objects related to trains.
  3. Train Word Hunt: Write down train-related words on separate pieces of paper and hide them around the room. Ask the toddler to find the words and bring them back to you. Once they find a word, help them sound it out and explain its meaning if needed.
