Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will learn about the history of robotics and its impact on society.

Materials and Prep

  • Internet access
  • Writing materials (paper and pencil)

Activities

  1. Research: Use the internet to find information about the history of robotics. Look for interesting facts and key inventions.

  2. Timeline Creation: Create a timeline of important milestones in the history of robotics. Include dates and brief descriptions of each event.

  3. Draw and Label: Draw a robot and label its different parts. Think about what each part does and how it helps the robot perform tasks.

First Grade Talking Points

  • "Robots are machines that can do tasks and follow instructions without human help."
  • "The history of robotics goes back a long time. People have been inventing and improving robots for many years."

  • "Robots can be used in many different ways, like helping with household chores, exploring space, or even performing surgery."
  • "Robots are programmed to follow specific instructions. People write the instructions, and the robots carry them out."
  • "Robots can have different parts, like sensors to detect things, arms to pick up objects, and wheels to move around."
  • "Robots have made our lives easier by doing tasks that would be difficult or dangerous for humans."
  • "As technology continues to advance, robots are becoming more and more capable."
