Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to identify and name different types of vehicles in Spanish.
Materials and Prep
- Flashcards or pictures of various vehicles
- Whiteboard or paper and markers
- Spanish-English dictionary (optional)
- Prior knowledge of basic Spanish greetings and numbers
Activities
- Show the student flashcards or pictures of different vehicles (carro, camión, bicicleta, motocicleta, autobús, avión, barco, tren, etc.) and pronounce the words in Spanish. Have the student repeat the words after you.
- Write down the names of the vehicles on the whiteboard or paper, leaving space for the student to draw a picture next to each word.
- Ask the student to draw a simple picture of each vehicle next to its name. Encourage them to be creative and add details.
- Review the names of the vehicles again, pointing to each word and having the student say the corresponding word in Spanish.
- Play a game of "Guess the Vehicle" by describing a vehicle in Spanish and having the student guess which one it is. For example, "Es grande y lleva muchas personas" (It's big and carries many people) for "autobús".
- Repeat the game, but this time have the student describe the vehicles in Spanish while you guess.
