Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to understand the concept of history and its importance in our lives.

Materials and Prep

  • Pokémon cards or pictures
  • Whiteboard or large paper
  • Markers or colored pencils
  • Access to a computer or tablet for online research (optional)

No prior knowledge is required for this lesson.

Activities

  1. Show the student Pokémon cards or pictures and ask them if they know what Pokémon is. Have a brief discussion about Pokémon and their popularity.
  2. Explain that just like Pokémon, people have a history too. Ask the student if they know what history means.
  3. Write the word "history" on the whiteboard or paper. Ask the student to draw or write down what they think history means.
  4. Discuss the student's definition and explain that history is the study of the past. It helps us understand how things were in the past and how they have changed over time.
  5. Show the student different Pokémon cards or pictures from various generations. Explain that just like Pokémon, people and societies have also changed over time.
  6. Ask the student to imagine what life was like a long time ago. Encourage them to think about how people lived, what they wore, what they ate, and what games they played.
  7. Guide the student to understand that history helps us learn from the past and make better decisions for the future.
  8. Optional: If access to a computer or tablet is available, allow the student to explore online resources about history or Pokémon history to further their understanding.
