Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to identify and understand key vocabulary words related to Minecraft, and use them to create a short story.
Materials and Prep
- Computer or tablet with internet access
- Paper and pencil
Activities
-
Begin by discussing with the student their knowledge and interest in Minecraft. Ask them to share some of their favorite aspects of the game.
-
Introduce a list of Minecraft-related vocabulary words. Write each word on a separate piece of paper or index card, and place them face down on a table.
Take turns with the student flipping over a card and discussing the meaning of the word. Encourage the student to provide examples or explanations using their own understanding of Minecraft.
-
Once all the words have been discussed, ask the student to choose three words that they find most interesting or important.
Using these three words, challenge the student to create a short story or paragraph that incorporates the chosen vocabulary. Provide guidance and support as needed.
-
After the story is complete, have the student read it aloud to you. Encourage them to use expressive reading and ask questions about the story to ensure comprehension.
