Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to identify fall-related words, understand their meanings, and practice reading them aloud.
Materials and Prep
- Fall-themed picture book
- Flashcards with fall-related words (e.g., apple, leaf, pumpkin, scarecrow)
- Writing materials (pencil and paper)
- Colorful markers or crayons
Activities
- Start by reading a fall-themed picture book together. Discuss the illustrations and ask questions about the story.
- Introduce the flashcards with fall-related words. Show each card and say the word aloud. Have the student repeat the word after you.
- Play a matching game with the flashcards. Lay them out face down on a table or floor. Take turns flipping two cards at a time, trying to find a matching pair. When a pair is found, say the word out loud.
- After the game, have the student choose one flashcard and draw a picture of the word on a piece of paper. Encourage creativity and use of colors.
- Once the drawing is complete, ask the student to write the word below the picture. Help with letter formation if needed.
- Review all the words and their meanings. Practice reading the words aloud together.
