Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to understand and appreciate the changes that occur in nature during the fall season.
Materials and Prep
- Colored pencils or crayons
- White paper
- Printed pictures of fall scenes (optional)
- Prior knowledge of basic colors and shapes
Activities
- Start by discussing the concept of fall with the student. Explain that fall is a season that comes after summer and before winter. It is a time when the weather starts getting cooler and the leaves on trees change color.
- Take the student outside to observe the changes in nature during fall. Look for different colored leaves, fallen acorns, and other signs of the season.
- Back inside, provide the student with colored pencils or crayons and white paper. Ask them to draw a picture of their favorite fall scene or something they observed outside. Encourage them to use the colors they associate with fall, such as red, orange, and yellow.
- If available, show the student printed pictures of fall scenes to inspire their artwork.
- After completing their drawings, have a discussion about their artwork. Ask them to describe what they drew and why they chose those colors.
