Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will learn about the basic needs of a new puppy and how to take care of it.
Materials and Prep
- Paper and pencil
- Internet access (optional)
- Pictures or books about puppies (optional)
Before starting the lesson, make sure you have a basic understanding of what a puppy is and what it needs to stay healthy and happy.
Activities
- Brainstorm: Ask the student to think about what a new puppy might need to be happy and healthy. Write down their ideas on a piece of paper.
- Research: If you have internet access, search for information about the basic needs of a puppy together. Alternatively, you can use pictures or books about puppies to gather information.
- Discussion: Talk about the different needs of a puppy, such as food, water, shelter, exercise, and love. Discuss why each of these needs is important for a puppy's well-being.
- Draw and Label: Ask the student to draw a picture of a puppy and label the different things it needs, such as a food bowl, water bowl, bed, leash, and toys.
- Role Play: Pretend to be a new puppy owner and have the student act as the puppy. Go through a day in the life of a puppy, making sure to address its needs. For example, pretend to feed the puppy, take it for a walk, and play with it.
