Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to write a short paragraph about their new puppy, including details about its appearance, personality, and why they love it.

Materials and Prep

  • Paper
  • Pencil
  • Coloring materials (optional)

Activities

  1. Brainstorming: Have the student think about their new puppy and make a list of descriptive words that come to mind. Encourage them to think about the puppy's appearance, behavior, and any special traits.
  2. Writing the Paragraph: Using the descriptive words from the brainstorming activity, guide the student in writing a paragraph about their new puppy. Start with an introduction sentence, followed by a few sentences describing the puppy's appearance, personality, and why they love it. Encourage the use of adjectives and complete sentences.
  3. Revision and Editing: Review the paragraph together and discuss ways to make it more interesting. Help the student identify any errors in grammar, spelling, or punctuation, and guide them in making necessary corrections.
  4. Illustration (optional): If the student enjoys drawing, they can illustrate their paragraph by creating a picture of their new puppy. This can be done using coloring materials.
