Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to write a short paragraph about their new puppy, including details about its appearance, personality, and why they love it.
Materials and Prep
- Paper
- Pencil
- Coloring materials (optional)
Activities
- Brainstorming: Have the student think about their new puppy and make a list of descriptive words that come to mind. Encourage them to think about the puppy's appearance, behavior, and any special traits.
- Writing the Paragraph: Using the descriptive words from the brainstorming activity, guide the student in writing a paragraph about their new puppy. Start with an introduction sentence, followed by a few sentences describing the puppy's appearance, personality, and why they love it. Encourage the use of adjectives and complete sentences.
- Revision and Editing: Review the paragraph together and discuss ways to make it more interesting. Help the student identify any errors in grammar, spelling, or punctuation, and guide them in making necessary corrections.
- Illustration (optional): If the student enjoys drawing, they can illustrate their paragraph by creating a picture of their new puppy. This can be done using coloring materials.
