Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to write a creative story about Jesus using descriptive language and proper sentence structure.

Materials and Prep

  • Paper
  • Pencils or pens
  • Coloring materials (optional)
  • Knowledge of basic sentence structure

Activities

  1. Brainstorming: Begin by asking the student to think about their favorite story or event involving Jesus. Encourage them to recall specific details and emotions related to the story.

  2. Descriptive Word Bank: Together, create a word bank of descriptive words that can be used to enhance their story. This can include words related to emotions, actions, appearance, and surroundings.

  3. Planning: Help the student create an outline for their story, including an introduction, main events, and a conclusion. Encourage them to use the descriptive words from the word bank to add depth to their writing.

  4. Writing: Provide the student with enough time to write their story using the outline as a guide. Remind them to use proper sentence structure, punctuation, and capitalization.

  5. Optional Illustration: If the student enjoys drawing, they can create an illustration to accompany their story. This can be done after completing the writing portion.

  6. Sharing and Feedback: Allow the student to share their story with you or other family members. Provide positive feedback and ask questions to encourage further reflection and improvement.
