Materials and Prep
- Paper
- Pencils or pens
- Coloring materials (optional)
- Knowledge of basic sentence structure
Activities
-
Brainstorming: Begin by asking the student to think about their favorite story or event involving Jesus. Encourage them to recall specific details and emotions related to the story.
-
Descriptive Word Bank: Together, create a word bank of descriptive words that can be used to enhance their story. This can include words related to emotions, actions, appearance, and surroundings.
-
Planning: Help the student create an outline for their story, including an introduction, main events, and a conclusion. Encourage them to use the descriptive words from the word bank to add depth to their writing.
-
Writing: Provide the student with enough time to write their story using the outline as a guide. Remind them to use proper sentence structure, punctuation, and capitalization.
-
Optional Illustration: If the student enjoys drawing, they can create an illustration to accompany their story. This can be done after completing the writing portion.
-
Sharing and Feedback: Allow the student to share their story with you or other family members. Provide positive feedback and ask questions to encourage further reflection and improvement.
