Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to create a pumpkin-themed artwork and appreciate the beauty of pumpkins.

Materials and Prep

  • Paper
  • Crayons or markers
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Pumpkin images or real pumpkins (optional)

Prior to the lesson, gather the materials and have them ready for the activities.

Activities

  1. Start by discussing pumpkins with the student. Show them images of pumpkins or real pumpkins if available. Talk about their shape, color, and how they are commonly associated with fall and Halloween.

  2. Ask the student to draw a large pumpkin on a piece of paper. Encourage them to use their imagination and make it as colorful as they like.

  3. Next, have the student cut out the pumpkin shape they drew.

  4. Provide the student with different colored paper or magazines. Ask them to cut out shapes or images that remind them of fall or Halloween, such as leaves, bats, or candy corn.

  5. Have the student glue the cut-out shapes onto their pumpkin to decorate it.

  6. Once the artwork is complete, ask the student to describe their pumpkin and explain why they chose certain decorations. Encourage them to express their creativity and personal preferences.
