Materials and Prep

  • A small container or terrarium
  • A lid or cover for the container
  • A magnifying glass
  • A small dish of water
  • A small dish of soil or sand
  • A few leaves or pieces of vegetables

No prior knowledge is required for this lesson.

Activities

  1. Observe and Describe: Place a snail in the container and cover it with the lid. Use the magnifying glass to observe the snail closely. Describe its shape, color, and any other interesting features you notice.
  2. Create a Snail Habitat: Place a small dish of water and a small dish of soil or sand in the container. Add a few leaves or pieces of vegetables as food. Place the snail in the habitat and observe how it interacts with the environment.
