Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will understand the importance of security cameras in our community and how they help keep us safe.

Materials and Prep

  • Security camera images or pictures
  • Whiteboard or chart paper
  • Markers or colored pencils

No prior knowledge or preparation is required for this lesson.

Activities

  1. Show the student different security camera images or pictures and discuss what they see. Ask questions like "What do you notice in these pictures?" and "Why do you think these cameras are important?"
  2. Draw a large circle on the whiteboard or chart paper to represent a security camera. Ask the student to brainstorm different places where security cameras can be found (e.g., school, store, park).
  3. Have the student draw their own security camera on the whiteboard or chart paper and label it with the name of a place where they think it would be important to have one.
  4. Discuss with the student how security cameras help keep us safe. Explain that they can deter bad behavior and help identify people who may have done something wrong.
  5. Encourage the student to come up with a safety rule that they think is important for their community. Write it down next to the security camera drawing.
