Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to create your own loom bands and understand the basics of weaving.

Materials and Prep

  • Loom bands (different colors)
  • Loom board
  • Loom hook
  • Scissors
  • Instructions on how to make basic loom band patterns

Before starting the lesson, make sure you have a clear workspace and have read through the instructions on how to make basic loom band patterns.

Activities

  1. Introduction to Loom Bands:

    Start by showing the student different colors of loom bands and explain what they are used for. Discuss the different patterns that can be created using loom bands.

  2. Learning to Use the Loom Board:

    Show the student how to place the loom bands on the loom board, following the instructions provided. Demonstrate how to use the loom hook to create the desired pattern.

  3. Creating Simple Loom Band Bracelets:

    Guide the student through making a simple loom band bracelet using a basic pattern. Encourage them to be creative with color choices.

  4. Experimenting with Weaving:

    Introduce the concept of weaving by showing the student how to weave additional loom bands into their bracelet. Discuss different weaving techniques and patterns.

  5. Independent Practice:

    Allow the student to practice creating their own loom band patterns and weaving techniques. Provide assistance and guidance as needed.
