Dolphin Dive! Exploring Ocean Homes

Introduction (5 minutes):

Hello Explorer! I know you love dolphins! They are amazing swimmers, aren't they? But where do dolphins live? Do they live in lakes? Rivers? Ponds? No! They live in huge, giant bodies of water called OCEANS! Today, we're going on an adventure to find the oceans where our dolphin friends swim and play.

Activity 1: Meet the Oceans! (10 minutes):

Let's look at this big map (or globe). See all this blue? That's water! Most of the Earth is covered in water. These really big parts of blue are called oceans. They are full of salty water, just like dolphins love! Let's find some of them. This giant one is the Pacific Ocean. Can you say Pacific? (Point it out). Over here is the Atlantic Ocean. (Point it out). There are other oceans too, like the Indian, Arctic, and Southern oceans. Dolphins can be found swimming in many of these warm and cold waters! They are world travelers!

Activity 2: Dolphin Homes (10 minutes):

Dolphins don't live everywhere in the ocean, but they live in many parts! Some like warmer water, closer to the middle of the Earth (the equator), and some don't mind cooler water. (Show general areas on the map, like coastal regions or specific oceans known for dolphins, e.g., Pacific, Atlantic). They swim in groups called pods and love to leap out of the water. Imagine being a dolphin swimming across a vast ocean!

Activity 3: Create Your Own Ocean! (15 minutes):

Now it's your turn to be a map maker! Take your paper. Let's draw a big ocean. What color should it be? That's right, blue! Color a large part of your paper blue. You can even add some green or brown for land on the sides if you like. Now, where do the dolphins live? In the ocean! Draw a happy dolphin swimming in your blue ocean. You can even draw a whole pod! (Optional: Add dolphin stickers).

Wrap-up (5 minutes):

Wow, look at your amazing ocean map! Can you point to the ocean you drew? And where is your dolphin? Great job! So, tell me one big place where dolphins live? (Answer: Oceans). Can you remember the name of one ocean we found on the map today? (e.g., Pacific, Atlantic). You learned so much about the dolphin's ocean home today! Maybe next time we can learn about other animals that live in the ocean too!
