Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to identify and locate different states in the United States on a map.

Materials and Prep

• A map of the United States
• A set of flashcards with the names of different states
• A pencil or marker

Activities

1. Show the map of the United States to the student and ask them if they recognize any of the states. Allow them to point out any states they know.
2. Introduce the flashcards with the names of different states. Show each flashcard to the student and ask them to repeat the name of the state after you.
3. Place the flashcards face down on a table. Ask the student to pick a flashcard and try to locate the state on the map.
4. Repeat step 3 with different flashcards, allowing the student to practice locating various states on the map.
