Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to identify and locate different states in the United States on a map.
Materials and Prep
- A map of the United States
- A set of flashcards with the names of different states
- A pencil or marker
Activities
- Show the map of the United States to the student and ask them if they recognize any of the states. Allow them to point out any states they know.
- Introduce the flashcards with the names of different states. Show each flashcard to the student and ask them to repeat the name of the state after you.
- Place the flashcards face down on a table. Ask the student to pick a flashcard and try to locate the state on the map.
- Repeat step 3 with different flashcards, allowing the student to practice locating various states on the map.
