Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to demonstrate proper archery techniques and understand the importance of physical fitness in archery.

Materials and Prep

  • Bow and arrows
  • Archery target
  • Open outdoor space or indoor range
  • Safety equipment (armguard, finger tab, etc.)

Before starting the lesson, make sure the student is familiar with basic safety rules and precautions of archery.

Activities

  1. Warm-up exercises: Begin the lesson with a series of dynamic stretches and light cardio exercises to warm up the muscles.
  2. Introduction to archery equipment: Explain the different parts of a bow and arrow, and demonstrate how to properly handle and hold the equipment.
  3. Proper shooting technique: Teach the student the correct stance, grip, and anchor points for shooting an arrow. Provide guidance and feedback as they practice shooting at the target.
  4. Target practice: Set up the archery target and allow the student to practice shooting arrows at different distances. Encourage them to focus on accuracy and consistency.
  5. Physical fitness component: Integrate physical fitness exercises into the archery session. For example, after shooting a set of arrows, have the student perform bodyweight exercises like push-ups or lunges to improve overall strength and endurance.
  6. Cool-down and reflection: Finish the lesson with a cool-down routine, including static stretches. Ask the student to reflect on their progress and identify areas for improvement.
