Before starting this lesson, make sure you are familiar with the basic controls and gameplay of Minecraft.
Activities
- Begin by discussing with the student the concept of storytelling and how it is used in books, movies, and games like Minecraft. Ask them to think about their favorite Minecraft adventures and characters.
- Next, have the student choose one of their favorite Minecraft adventures and ask them to write a short summary of the story. Encourage them to include details about the setting, characters, and plot.
- Once the summary is complete, ask the student to identify the main character and describe their traits and motivations. Have them think about how the character's actions and decisions drive the story forward.
- Now, ask the student to imagine an alternate ending for the Minecraft adventure they chose. Have them write a short paragraph describing how the story would change and why they made that choice.
- Finally, have the student share their summary, character analysis, and alternate ending with you or a family member. Encourage them to discuss their choices and reasoning.
