Introduction to Cartography
Start by discussing what cartography is and its importance. Show examples of different types of maps and explain how they are used.

Map Exploration
Provide the student with a world map or an atlas and encourage them to explore different regions, countries, and continents. Ask them to identify major landmarks or geographical features.

Create Your Own Map
Guide the student in creating their own simple map. They can choose to map their bedroom, a fictional island, or any other location of interest. Remind them to include a title, key/legend, and compass rose.

Give the student an opportunity to present their map to the rest of the family or a small group. Encourage them to explain the elements they included and the significance of their chosen location.
