Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to understand and apply basic arithmetic concepts while playing tag.
Materials and Prep
- An open space for playing tag
- No additional materials required
Activities
- Warm-up Tag: Begin by playing a regular game of tag to warm up and get moving.
- Counting Steps: During the game, assign each player a number. Every time you take a step, say your number out loud. This will help practice counting while playing tag.
- Addition Tag: When a player gets tagged, they have to perform a simple addition problem before they can resume playing. For example, if the player is tagged and the teacher says "2 + 3", the player would have to answer "5" before continuing.
- Subtraction Tag: Similar to Addition Tag, but this time the player needs to solve a subtraction problem before continuing. For example, if the player is tagged and the teacher says "7 - 4", the player would have to answer "3" before continuing.
- Multiplication Tag: This time, the player needs to solve a multiplication problem before continuing. For example, if the player is tagged and the teacher says "4 x 2", the player would have to answer "8" before continuing.
