Objective
By the end of this lesson, the first-grade homeschool student will be able to introduce themselves in Japanese, count up to 10, and recognize basic Japanese greetings.
Materials and Prep

- Dry erase markers or markers
- Japanese language resources or textbooks
Activities

Introduce basic greetings in Japanese:
- Teach the student how to say "Konnichiwa" (Hello), "Arigatou" (Thank you), and "Sayonara" (Goodbye).
- Practice saying the greetings together and encourage the student to repeat after you.

Teach numbers 1-10 in Japanese:
- Show the flashcards with numbers 1-10 and their corresponding Japanese characters.
- Go through each number, saying it out loud and having the student repeat after you.
- Practice counting together using the flashcards.

Introduce self-introduction in Japanese:
- Teach the student how to say their name in Japanese. For example, "Watashi wa [name] desu" (I am [name]).
- Encourage the student to introduce themselves using their name in Japanese.

Engage in a Japanese vocabulary game:
- Write down different Japanese words on the whiteboard or large paper.
- Have the student identify the corresponding flashcard or image for each word.
- Reward the student with points or small prizes for correct answers.
