By the end of this lesson, you will be able to read and understand basic sentences related to Minecraft.
Materials and Prep
- A computer or tablet with Minecraft installed
- A notebook and pencil
Prior knowledge of basic letter sounds and recognition is helpful but not required.
Activities
Start by opening Minecraft and exploring your virtual world. Take note of the different objects and characters you encounter.
Using your notebook, draw and label some of the items you found in Minecraft. Write the names of the objects next to your drawings.
Ask a parent or older sibling to help you search for Minecraft-related books or stories online. Choose one that looks interesting to you.
Read the chosen Minecraft story with the help of an adult. Take turns reading the sentences aloud and discussing the illustrations.
Using your notebook, write a short sentence about your favorite part of the story. Remember to use capital letters at the beginning of your sentence and a period at the end.
Share your sentence with a family member or friend. Practice reading it aloud, making sure to use your best reading voice.
