Objective
By the end of this lesson, the toddler will be able to identify and name different fruits, understand their nutritional benefits, and engage in physical activities related to fruits.
Materials and Prep
- A variety of fresh fruits (such as apples, bananas, oranges, grapes, etc.)
- A large open space for physical activities
- A small basket or bowl to collect the fruits
- A picture or chart displaying different fruits
- Optional: Music for dancing and movement activities
Activities
- Introduction: Show the picture or chart of different fruits and ask the toddler to name the fruits they recognize. Explain that today's lesson will be all about fruits and how they are good for our bodies.
- Fruit Hunt: Scatter the fruits around the room or outdoor area. Instruct the toddler to find the fruits and place them in the basket or bowl. Encourage them to name each fruit as they find it.
- Fruit Tasting: Sit down with the toddler and invite them to try different fruits one by one. Discuss the taste, texture, and color of each fruit. Emphasize the nutritional benefits of eating fruits, such as providing vitamins and fiber.
- Fruit Dance: Play upbeat music and encourage the toddler to dance and move around while pretending to be different fruits. For example, they can dance like a bouncing banana or wiggle like a juicy orange.
- Fruit Sorting: Provide the toddler with a few different fruits and ask them to sort them into groups based on their similarities, such as color, size, or shape.
- Fruit Relay Race: Set up a start and finish line in the open space. Divide the fruits into two equal groups and place them at the start line. Guide the toddler to run back and forth, picking up one fruit at a time and placing it in a designated area near the finish line. Repeat the relay race a few times for more physical activity.
