Before starting the lesson, make sure the student understands basic safety rules for outdoor activities and is familiar with the concept of walking in nature.
Activities
- Discuss the concept of bush walking and its benefits. Talk about how it is a form of exercise and a way to connect with nature.
- Take the student on a virtual bush walking tour using images or videos. Show different types of terrains, plants, and animals they may encounter during a bush walk.
- Practice warm-up exercises together, such as stretching and light jogging in place, to prepare for the physical activity.
- Go for a short walk in a nearby outdoor area. Encourage the student to observe their surroundings, identify different plants or animals, and appreciate the beauty of nature.
- During the walk, incorporate fun physical activities such as jumping over small obstacles, balancing on tree trunks, or doing animal movements (e.g., pretending to be a kangaroo or a bird).
- Take breaks along the way to rest, drink water, and discuss interesting findings or observations made during the walk.
- Finish the lesson with a cool-down period, including stretching exercises and deep breathing.
