Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to explore the practical arts through engaging activities related to a science museum visit.

Materials and Prep

  • Science museum website or brochure

Prior knowledge of basic science concepts and enthusiasm for learning about practical arts.

Activities

  1. Research: Ask the student to explore the website or brochure of a science museum they are interested in. Have them make a list of exhibits or activities related to practical arts.
  2. Virtual Tour: Using the museum's online resources, guide the student on a virtual tour of the practical arts exhibits. Encourage them to take notes and sketch interesting objects or designs they come across.
  3. Design Challenge: Present the student with a design challenge inspired by one of the exhibits. For example, if they explored a section on architecture, ask them to design their dream house using paper and pencil.
  4. Reflection: Have a discussion with the student about their favorite exhibit and what they found most interesting about the practical arts. Ask them to reflect on how practical arts are important in our daily lives.
