Activities

  1. Start by discussing with the student what hunting and gathering means. Explain that in the past, people used to rely on hunting and gathering food for survival.

  2. Next, ask the student to imagine they are going on a hunting and gathering adventure in their backyard or a nearby park. Have them make a list of different things they might find while hunting and gathering.

  3. After the list is complete, take the student outside and let them explore the area, pretending to hunt and gather. Encourage them to use their senses to observe their surroundings and identify potential items on their list.

  4. Once they have finished their adventure, come back inside and have a discussion about the different things they found. Ask questions like "What did you see?", "What did you hear?", "What did you smell?", and "What did you touch?".

  5. Finally, explain to the student that hunting and gathering can be a fun way to stay active and healthy. Emphasize the importance of being in nature, exploring, and using our bodies to move and gather resources.
