Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to identify and locate different states in the USA on a map.

Materials and Prep

  • A map of the USA
  • Colored pencils or markers
  • A list of state names

Activities

  1. Introduce the map of the USA to the student and explain how it is divided into different states.
  2. Provide the student with a list of state names and ask them to locate and color each state on the map.
  3. Once the student has finished, review their work together and discuss any questions or difficulties they may have encountered.
  4. Play a game of "Guess the State" by describing a state's geographical features or famous landmarks, and have the student try to guess which state it is.
