Objective

By the end of this lesson, the Eighth grade-level homeschool student will be able to analyze and interpret a piece of literature using Montessori-inspired reading strategies.

Materials and Prep

  • A Montessori-inspired reading activity book
  • A pen or pencil
  • A quiet and comfortable reading area

Activities

  1. Begin by selecting a piece of literature from the Montessori-inspired reading activity book.

  2. Find a quiet and comfortable reading area to settle in.

  3. Read the selected piece of literature carefully, paying attention to the characters, plot, and any key themes or messages.

  4. After reading, take a few minutes to reflect on the story. Write down your thoughts, questions, or connections in a journal.

  5. Once you have finished reflecting, discuss your thoughts with a parent or guardian. Share your insights and listen to their perspective on the story.

  6. Finally, using the Montessori-inspired reading strategies, create a visual representation of the story. This could be a drawing, a collage, or even a diorama.
