Twelfth Grade Talking Points

  • "When writing a cover letter, it is important to address it to a specific person within the company. Research and find the name of the hiring manager or relevant department head."
  • "In the opening paragraph of your cover letter, clearly state your interest in the flooring industry and the specific position you are applying for. Show enthusiasm and passion for the job."
  • "Use the body paragraphs of your cover letter to highlight relevant skills and experiences that make you a strong candidate for the job. Provide specific examples and quantify your achievements whenever possible."
  • "In your resume, include a concise summary or objective statement at the beginning to give employers a quick overview of your qualifications and career goals."
  • "List your work experience in reverse chronological order, starting with the most recent job. Include job titles, company names, dates of employment, and a description of your responsibilities and accomplishments."
  • "Don't forget to include relevant education, certifications, and any additional skills or qualifications that make you stand out as an applicant."
  • "Proofread your cover letter and resume multiple times to eliminate any errors or typos. Ask a trusted friend or family member to review them as well for a fresh perspective."
  • "Make sure your cover letter and resume are visually appealing and well-organized. Use clear headings, bullet points, and consistent formatting to enhance readability."
  • "Remember to customize your cover letter and resume for each job application. Tailor your qualifications and experiences to match the specific requirements of the flooring company you are applying to."
