Objective

By the end of this lesson, the toddler will be able to identify and name different types of cars in Spanish.

Materials and Prep

  • Toy cars
  • Flashcards with pictures of different cars
  • Whiteboard or paper and markers

No prior knowledge is required for this lesson.

Activities

  1. Show the toddler different toy cars and ask them to name them in English. Encourage them to use descriptive words like "fast," "big," or "red."
  2. Introduce the flashcards with pictures of cars. Show each flashcard and say the name of the car in Spanish. Repeat the words a few times and encourage the toddler to repeat after you.
  3. Play a matching game with the flashcards. Lay them out on a table or on the floor, and ask the toddler to find the corresponding toy car for each flashcard. As they find a match, have them say the name of the car in Spanish.
  4. Use the whiteboard or paper and markers to draw a simple road map with different destinations labeled in Spanish (e.g., "escuela" for school, "parque" for park). Ask the toddler to drive the toy cars to the correct destination as you say the names in Spanish.
