Objective
By the end of this lesson, the preschool student will be able to develop their reading skills through a craft activity.
Materials and Prep
- Construction paper
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- Markers or crayons
- Magazines or picture books
Before starting the lesson, make sure the student has a basic understanding of shapes and colors.
Activities
-
Begin by discussing the importance of reading and how it can be fun.
Ask the student to choose a favorite picture book or magazine.
Encourage them to look through the pages and find pictures that they like.
-
Next, help the student cut out the pictures they have chosen from the book or magazine.
Assist them in arranging the pictures on a piece of construction paper.
-
Once they are satisfied with the arrangement, guide them in gluing the pictures onto the construction paper.
-
After the glue has dried, encourage the student to use markers or crayons to write or draw something related to the pictures they have chosen.
For example, they can write the names of objects or characters, or draw additional elements to create a story.
