Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to recognize and read a set of sight words.
Materials and Prep
- Flashcards with sight words
- Whiteboard or paper
- Markers or crayons
Activities
-
Introduce the sight words: Show the flashcards one by one and say the word out loud. Have the student repeat the word after you.
-
Word Hunt: Write the sight words randomly on the whiteboard or paper. Ask the student to find a specific word and circle it with a marker or crayon.
-
Memory Game: Shuffle the flashcards and lay them face down on a table. Take turns flipping two cards at a time, trying to match the sight words. If a match is made, read the word out loud.
-
Sight Word Sentences: Write simple sentences using the sight words. Read the sentences aloud and have the student point to each word as you read. Then, ask the student to read the sentences back to you.
