Objective
By the end of this lesson, the toddler will be able to engage in language arts activities related to reading and soccer.
Materials and Prep
- A soccer ball
- Paper and crayons
- Pictures or books about soccer
Prior knowledge: The student should have basic understanding of letters and colors.
Activities
- Letter Hunt: Hide letters around the room or outdoor area. Encourage the toddler to find and identify the letters. For each letter found, ask the toddler to name a soccer-related word that starts with that letter.
- Coloring Soccer Balls: Provide the toddler with paper and crayons. Ask them to draw and color soccer balls. While they color, discuss the colors they are using and encourage them to name the colors out loud.
- Soccer Story Time: Read a soccer-themed book or show pictures of soccer players and soccer fields. Ask the toddler to point out objects or actions related to soccer in the pictures or story. Encourage them to describe what they see using simple words.
- Soccer Word Match: Write down soccer-related words on separate pieces of paper. Lay them out on a table or the floor. Ask the toddler to match the words to the corresponding pictures of soccer objects or actions.
