Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to identify and describe different types of trucks and their functions, while practicing reading skills.
Materials and Prep
- Picture books about trucks
- Toy trucks
- Construction paper
- Markers or crayons
- Scissors
Activities
- Read Aloud: Start by reading a picture book about trucks to the student. Encourage them to pay attention to the different types of trucks and their features.
- Truck Identification: Show the student various toy trucks and ask them to identify the type of truck (e.g., dump truck, excavator, bulldozer). Discuss the specific functions of each truck and how they are used for digging and construction.
- Truck Drawing: Provide the student with construction paper, markers or crayons, and scissors. Ask them to choose their favorite truck and draw it on the paper. Encourage them to add details and label the different parts of the truck.
- Reading Practice: Create simple sentences using the names of the trucks discussed earlier. Write the sentences on separate pieces of paper and ask the student to read them aloud. For example, "The dump truck is big." "The excavator can dig deep holes."
