Activities
- Introduction: Start by discussing cats with your student. Ask them questions like "What do you know about cats?" or "Have you ever seen a cat before?". Show them pictures or read books about cats if you have any available.
- Brainstorming: Ask your student to think of words that describe cats. Write down their ideas on a piece of paper. Encourage them to think of words like fluffy, playful, or curious.
- Writing Practice: Have your student write a short paragraph about cats using the descriptive words they brainstormed. Help them with spelling and encourage them to use complete sentences. For example, they could write "Cats are fluffy and soft. They like to play with yarn and chase mice."
- Illustration: After writing the paragraph, ask your student to draw a picture of a cat to go along with their writing. They can use the crayons or colored pencils to make their drawing colorful and creative.
- Sharing and Discussion: Have your student share their paragraph and drawing with you. Ask them questions about their writing, such as "Why did you choose those descriptive words?" or "What is your favorite thing about cats?". Encourage them to explain their ideas and feelings.
