Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to write a step-by-step tutorial on how to crochet a simple project.

Materials and Prep

  • Crochet hook (appropriate size for yarn)
  • Yarn (any color of choice)
  • Pen or pencil
  • Blank paper or notebook

No prior knowledge of crochet is required.

Activities

  1. Introduction to Crochet (10 minutes)
    Discuss the history and basic concepts of crochet. Show examples of crochet projects and explain the different stitches used.
  2. Choosing a Project (5 minutes)
    Guide the student in selecting a simple crochet project, such as a dishcloth or a small scarf, that they would like to create.
  3. Writing the Tutorial (20 minutes)
    Instruct the student to write a step-by-step tutorial on how to crochet their chosen project. Emphasize the importance of clear and concise instructions, including explanations of each stitch and any necessary diagrams or illustrations.
  4. Review and Edit (10 minutes)
    Have the student review and edit their tutorial for clarity, coherence, and grammar. Encourage them to seek feedback from a peer or family member if possible.
  5. Final Version (5 minutes)
    Instruct the student to write a final version of their tutorial, neatly and legibly, using their best handwriting or typing skills.
