Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to read and understand a short story about cars, identify car-related vocabulary words, and answer questions about the story.

Materials and Prep

  • Picture book about cars
  • Blank paper and crayons/markers
  • Pencil
  • Printed worksheet with car-related vocabulary words

Activities

  1. Read the picture book about cars together. Discuss the different types of cars, their features, and their purposes.
  2. After reading, ask the student to draw their favorite car from the story on the blank paper. Encourage them to add details and colors.
  3. Introduce the vocabulary words related to cars using the printed worksheet. Help the student read and understand each word.
  4. Play a matching game with the vocabulary words. Write each word on a separate piece of paper and mix them up. Ask the student to match the word with its corresponding picture from the book.
  5. Review the vocabulary words again and ask the student to use each word in a sentence. Provide guidance if needed.
  6. Give the student the printed worksheet with questions about the story. Ask them to read the questions and answer them using complete sentences.
