Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to understand and use basic Spanish vocabulary related to ballet.
Materials and Prep
- Ballet-themed flashcards (you can create your own by drawing or printing pictures)
- Writing materials (paper and crayons or markers)
No prior knowledge of Spanish is required for this lesson.
Activities
- Introduce the vocabulary: Show the flashcards one by one and say the Spanish word for each ballet-related item. Repeat the words a few times and encourage the student to repeat after you.
- Practice writing: Give the student a piece of paper and ask them to draw a picture of their favorite ballet-related item from the flashcards. Then, write the corresponding Spanish word below the drawing.
- Role-play: Pretend to be ballet dancers and use the Spanish vocabulary you have learned. For example, say "¡Hola! Soy una bailarina" (Hello! I am a ballerina) or "Vamos a bailar" (Let's dance).
- Memory game: Lay out the flashcards face down on a table. Take turns flipping two cards at a time, trying to find a match. When a match is found, say the Spanish word out loud.
