Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to create a musical composition inspired by the Pumpkin Patch theme.
Materials and Prep
- Paper and crayons/markers
- Optional: Small percussion instruments (if available)
No prior knowledge or preparation is required for this lesson.
Activities
- Start by discussing what a Pumpkin Patch is and why it is interesting to you.
- Draw a picture of a Pumpkin Patch on a piece of paper.
- Think about the sounds you might hear in a Pumpkin Patch. Use your imagination and draw symbols or pictures to represent those sounds around your Pumpkin Patch drawing.
- If you have small percussion instruments, experiment with creating sounds that mimic the ones you imagined.
- Using your drawing and the symbols/pictures you created, try to create a musical composition by assigning different sounds to each symbol/picture. You can use your voice, body percussion, or the small percussion instruments if available.
- Perform your musical composition for someone in your family or record it to share with others.
