Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to improve their reading skills while exploring their interest in Star Wars.

Materials and Prep

  • Star Wars books or reading materials
  • Paper and pencils
  • Star Wars-themed stickers or rewards (optional)

Activities

  1. Star Wars Reading Challenge: Have the student choose a Star Wars book or reading material that interests them. Set a timer for 15 minutes and challenge them to read as much as they can in that time. Encourage them to read aloud or silently, depending on their preference.

  2. Character Analysis: After the reading challenge, ask the student to choose their favorite Star Wars character from the book they read. Have them write a short paragraph describing the character's appearance, personality, and role in the story. They can also draw a picture of the character if they'd like.

  3. Star Wars Vocabulary: Together, create a list of Star Wars-related words or terms from the book. Have the student write each word on a separate piece of paper and then write a definition or explanation for each word. Encourage them to use their own words and understanding.

  4. Star Wars Story Writing: Ask the student to imagine a new adventure for their favorite Star Wars character. Have them write a short story (1-2 paragraphs) describing the setting, conflict, and resolution of the adventure. Encourage creativity and imagination.
