Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to identify and describe various fruits and vegetables while practicing English grammar skills.
Materials and Prep
- A variety of fruits and vegetables
- A whiteboard or large piece of paper
- Markers or crayons
- Flashcards with pictures of fruits and vegetables
Activities
- Introduction: Show the student a selection of fruits and vegetables and ask them to name each one. Discuss the different colors, shapes, and sizes of the items.
- Grammar Game: Write the names of the fruits and vegetables on the whiteboard or paper, leaving out the vowels. Have the student fill in the missing vowels to complete the words. For example, if you write "p__pl__," the student should say "pineapple."
- Vocabulary Matching: Use the flashcards to play a matching game. Lay out the cards face down and have the student turn over two cards at a time, trying to find pairs of fruits and vegetables. Encourage them to say the names of the items as they turn them over.
- Sentence Building: Write simple sentences on the whiteboard or paper using the names of the fruits and vegetables. For example, "I like apples." Have the student read the sentences aloud and point to the corresponding item. Encourage them to create their own sentences using different fruits and vegetables.
