Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to understand the basics of herbs and their importance in Earth Science.

Materials and Prep

  • A notebook or paper
  • A pencil or pen
  • Access to the internet or books about herbs
  • Prior knowledge of basic plant parts and their functions

Activities

  1. Research different types of herbs and their uses. Write down at least five herbs and their properties.

  2. Identify the parts of an herb plant. Draw and label the roots, stems, leaves, flowers, and seeds of an herb of your choice.

  3. Create a mini herb garden. Choose three herbs and plant them in small pots or containers. Observe and record their growth over the next few weeks.

  4. Write a short essay or create a presentation about the importance of herbs in our environment and their impact on Earth Science.
