Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to read and comprehend the story of Josephina and engage in related language arts activities.

Materials and Prep

  • Copy of the book "Meet Josephina" by Valerie Tripp
  • Paper and pencils

Activities

  1. Read aloud the story "Meet Josephina" to the student, or have the student read it independently.

  2. After reading the story, ask the student to write a short summary of the main events and characters in the book.

  3. Encourage the student to think critically about the story by discussing the following questions:

    • What challenges does Josephina face in the story?
    • How does Josephina overcome those challenges?
    • What lessons can we learn from Josephina's experiences?
  4. Have the student create a character profile for Josephina, including details about her personality, appearance, and motivations.

  5. Ask the student to write a letter to Josephina, sharing their thoughts and feelings about her story. Encourage them to ask Josephina questions or offer advice.
