Objective

By the end of this lesson, the Kindergarten student will be able to understand and practice positive affirmations for promoting health and well-being.

Materials and Prep

  • Blank sheets of paper
  • Crayons or markers

No prior knowledge is required for this lesson.

Activities

  1. Introduce the concept of affirmations to the student. Explain that affirmations are positive statements we say to ourselves to help us feel good and confident.

  2. Brainstorm a list of positive affirmations together. Encourage the student to think about things they like about themselves, their abilities, and their achievements.

  3. Give each student a blank sheet of paper and crayons or markers.

  4. Instruct the student to write or draw their favorite affirmations on the paper. They can decorate it with colors and patterns as well.

  5. Once the affirmations are complete, have the student practice saying them out loud while looking at their artwork. Encourage them to believe in the positive statements they have created.
